LONDON -- London, 21st October 2009, Interoute, owner operator of Europe’s largest next-generation network, today announced that it has expanded its network to Moscow in response to a surge in demand from enterprises looking for connectivity in the region. The new Point of Presence (PoP) in Moscow is providing businesses and service providers alike with fast, cost effective access to the rest of Europe and resilient, high quality voice and data services to support their operations. Interoute’s network expansion provides Russia with part of the infrastructure investment it is seeking as it strives to diversify its economy away from oil, its largest and most volatile export.

With Russia’s population reaching over 140 million, the huge demand for goods and services in the region holds enormous potential for enterprises seeking to expand their international presence. Enterprises like SunGard, a leading software and IT services company, are experiencing an increasing demand for financial services around trading in Russia and are looking to Interoute to support their operations in the region with services such as Ethernet high-speed networks. Interoute can provide businesses with the same high quality levels of connectivity and customer service that they experience in the rest of Europe.

Gareth Williams, CEO at Interoute, comments: “Russia is the largest untapped market in Europe, and for any multinational company a presence in the region is increasingly becoming a strategic requisite rather than a ‘nice to have’. By choosing the right partner to enter the market, or to strengthen an existing operation, a business can reduce time to market, as well as remove concerns about quality of service. Our PoP in Moscow can only serve to strengthen our role as a digital bridge connecting European enterprises to emerging markets.”
