VALENCIA, Spain -- DS2, the leading technology innovator and global supplier of high-speed powerline communications technology announced today the upcoming itinerary for its Fit for the Future technology roadshow to showcasing next generation DS2 technology that will allow powerline products to operate at a peak data rate of 400Mbps. On Tuesday 22nd January DS2 will be at the Renaissance Hotel, Seoul, Korea and on Thursday 24thJanuary, at the Spanish Embassy in Tokyo, Japan.

Interest in both DS2 events has surpassed expectations for this unique demonstration of 400 Mbps Powerline technology that will enable the development of new HD-capable multimedia applications, such as multi-channel HD-IPTV delivery or multi-room PVR. DS2's next generation 400 Mbps technology is the only option set to provide the future bandwidth to enable "in the home" multimedia applications. Next generation multimedia applications including multi-room IPTV and HDTV networked entertainment services, networked PVRs (personal video recorders) and multiple video streams will require bandwidth sufficient to support 5 or more simultaneous video streams from as early as 2009.

Jorge Blasco, DS2 CEO commented that "DS2's 400 Mbps technology will be compatible with existing DS2 technology: the 200Mbps AitanaTM chipset for multimedia and IPTV applications; and the 100Mbps MontgoTM chipset for Internet, data sharing and audio applications. DS2 is the only vendor committed to delivering interoperable solutions to ensure a seamless migration path for existing users and designs. We also provide programmable SoC solutions that allow our customers to design highly differentiated products for example, we recently added new features to current DS2 technology including on chip support in Aitana for the LLTD protocol to provide a better home networking experience to Windows Vista users and LLTD enabled devices and on chip support for TR-069 to allow advanced standards-based remote management capabilities for IPTV applications, without the extra cost of an external processor."
