MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. -- NextHop™ Technologies(R) Inc., the definitive source for network routing software solutions, today announced that Enterasys Networks(R), the Secure Networks Company™, has licensed and integrated NextHop GateD(R) routing software into its Matrix X family of secure core routers. Ease of integration with the GateD code allowed Enterasys Networks to reallocate valuable engineering resources, allowing savings in time-to-market and addition of valuable, competitive features. Enterasys Networks licensed the entire NextHop GateD NGC protocol suite.

Selection of GateD NGC software aligns the NextHop business model with the needs of Enterasys Networks. This includes a yearly subscription model enabling Enterasys to get all updates and upgrades to the GateD code base. The model proved to be a good fit with the business and engineering requirements to create the Enterasys Common Component Architecture (CCA) and help speed design cycles.

“After a thorough evaluation, we selected NextHop’s GateD as the routing software within our CCA”, said David Ready, director, software development, Enterasys Networks. ”The inclusion of off-the-shelf routing GateD software allowed Enterasys Networks to reallocate 20 engineers to other projects, cutting 6-12 months off of the development cycle and allowing us to deliver the Matrix X-Series router product in time to meet market demand. Regular product updates, quarterly review meetings and excellent pre and post-sales support have made this project a win for both companies.”
