BEDFORD, Mass. -- Empirix Inc., the leading supplier of VoIP testing systems, today introduced Hammer DEX™, the industry’s most advanced and flexible platform for emulating specific VoIP device functionality, behavior and configurations within a test environment. The Hammer DEX provides an extensible, multi-user environment, with a wide variety of easily customizable emulation templates. Combined with other Hammer test solutions, Hammer DEX allows VoIP devices and services to be tested in isolation. Created to meet the requirements of developers, Q/A labs, service provider labs, and system integration and rollout teams, Hammer DEX provides cost effective emulation of multiple devices on a single platform, delivering increased test efficiency and eliminating costs associated with acquiring and maintaining multiple VoIP and NGN devices for test use.

“The Hammer DEX is the first truly practical VoIP device emulation solution, combining a full range of ‘out of the box’ templates with a user-friendly interface, editing capabilities and an affordable price,” said Duane Sword, vice president, marketing of the Empirix Communication Infrastructure Group. “DEX emulation makes a wide variety of VoIP devices available for use in test labs, at a fraction of the acquisition and management cost associated with use of actual network equipment.”

The Hammer DEX platform provides device templates for a wide range of VoIP device types including gateway controllers (MGCP/H.248); trunking gateways(MGCP/H.248); SIP proxies; signaling gateways; session border controllers; media servers; and residential,/access gateways. Hammer DEX is initially focused on passive, non-endpoint VoIP device emulation and is available both as a low-capacity, single-user integrated product and as a high-capacity multi-user distributed version. Hammer DEX supports multiple VoIP protocols including SIP, MGCP, NCS, H.248 (Binary/ASCII) and H.323.
