BT Wins Sandvik VPN Deal

BT Global Services signs deal to provide datacommunications and voice solutions for Swedish engineering group Sandvik

LONDON -- BT today announced that Swedish listed engineering group Sandvik has chosen BT as one of its two suppliers to meet the group's global needs for communication solutions. The multi-million euro contract covers data communications and voice services for a duration of three years.

BT will be delivering managed data and voice networks and related services to Sandvik's global operation, extending to 130 countries and some 37,000 employees. The company's wholly-owned subsidiary Sandvik Information Technology AB is responsible for Sandvik's IT infrastructure.

Patrik Falk, senior manager at Sandvik IT, said: "Our working relationship with BT goes back several years. BT's global network suits our operations and we have chosen to expand and strengthen this relationship with a view to increasing economies of scale, cutting costs and rationalising our supplier base."

Jean-Yves Charlier, chief of operations for BT Global Services, said: "This deal confirms the success of BT's strategy in the Nordics. I am delighted to welcome the world-renowned Sandvik Group to our growing family of customers based in the region, which include a number of leading brands such as Astra Zeneca and SKF."
