LONDON and GAITHERSBURG, Md. -- Band-X, the worldwide provider of managed voice services for the telecommunications industry based in the United Kingdom, and NexTone Communications(R), the leader in scalable session management of real-time IP services such as Voice over IP (VoIP), today announced that Band-X has deployed NexTone's iView Management System (iVMS).

iVMS enables Band-X to more efficiently manage its carrier-to-carrier VoIP interconnects while optimizing margins for increased profitability. In addition, Band-X's use of iVMS makes it possible for the company to expand its product line by offering a new Managed VoIP Session Controller Partition service to its growing customer base.

NexTone's iVMS is an intelligent network management tool delivering increased visibility, end-to-end provisioning, troubleshooting, and analysis of a carrier's VoIP traffic in real-time. iVMS also enables the logical partitioning of NexTone's Multiprotocol Session Controller (MSC), allowing virtual MSCs to share the same physical infrastructure while maintaining dedicated control of quality of service (QoS), privileges, and other important VoIP characteristics. iVMS' logical partitioning functionality enables Band-X to sell hosted VoIP services to customers of any size while dramatically lowering the costs and risks associated with VoIP network expansion.

"Having successfully deployed NexTone's MSC a year ago, we were confident NexTone's iVMS would provide Band-X with increased operational efficiency and ease-of-use to support our core business of providing outsourced voice services to the telecom industry," said Adrian Howe, chief executive officer of Band-X. "NexTone's iVMS allows us to cost-effectively manage our network with advanced routing capabilities, while enabling us to expand our business by addressing the growing demand for hosted VoIP partition services."

As part of the new service offering, Band-X will partition NexTone's MSC and add in its own unique support services to offer a new Managed VoIP Session Controller Partition service. As a result, Band-X will be able to address the growing market of companies that want all the benefits of VoIP services, but do not want the cost or complexity of managing session controller equipment themselves.

"NexTone's iVMS and its ability to allow our customers to offer partitioning services reflects how the industry is evolving to meet market demands; specifically, the high level of interest in VoIP services from all areas of the market," said Hank Firey, chief executive officer of NexTone. "Our iVMS product allows companies like Band-X to deliver new revenue-generating VoIP services to other carriers or enterprise customers quickly and efficiently, while enabling these customers to derive all the benefits of VoIP without having to purchase new equipment on their own."

"Band-X is an important partner in providing outsourced and managed VoIP services to carriers," said Nicholas Turner, NexTone's General Manager for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. "Using NexTone's technology and Band-X's expertise, carriers - regardless of size - can accelerate their VoIP deployments from months to a matter of days and weeks."
