Algeria Telecom selects Huawei's OptiX equipment to construct its next-generation backbone transmission network

SHENZHEN, China -- Recently, Algeria Telecom, the unique integrated operator in Algeria, formally informed Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. (referred to as Huawei hereafter) that Huawei has won the bid of the purchased items for the next generation transmission network equipment.

This project is a backbone transmission network covering all territories within Algeria, which requires the network and equipment to be able to provide abundant data service characteristics, intelligent characteristics, and high reliability of next generation network oriented applications. Many international vendors have participated in this project. Huawei won the project thanks to its outstanding technical edges and perfect customized solutions of the ASON-based OptiX OSN. Even before that, Huawei's OptiX Metro series and OptiX BWS series transmission equipment have fulfilled applications of scale for Algeria Telecom.

According to the statistics from Ovum-RHK, the sales volume of Huawei' optical network equipment was ranked third in the global optical network market in 2004.

As one of the leading intelligent optical network vendors in the world, Huawei took the lead in releasing full-series intelligent optical network systems (OptiX OSN 9500/7500/3500/2500/1500) from the backbone layer to the access layer to meet large-scale networking application demands for different capacities and layers. OptiX OSN series optical network products have been largely applied in mainstream operators'networks in many countries and areas such as China, France, Britain, Germany, South Korea, and Brazil.
