Alcatel Launches Triple Play Analyzer

Alcatel launches 5530 Network Analyzer, a diagnostic software tool to for the deployment of value-added broadband services

PARIS -- Alcatel (Paris: CGEP.PA and NYSE: ALA) today announced availability of theAlcatel 5530 Network Analyzer (NA), an advanced diagnostic software tool designed to analyzenetwork conditions to ensure the successful deployment of value-added broadband services. There isrobust demand for broadband access around the world, and service providers are responding withaggressive plans to expand the reach and quality of their services, including the option to delivervoice, video and data over phone lines. The Alcatel Network Analyzer helps meet this goal byautomating the process of line quality assessment and the continuous monitoring of service quality.This translates into faster time-to-market, guaranteed service delivery, and improved customersatisfaction.

Alcatel has worked with more than 110 customers around the world in the deployment of their DSLnetworks. The Alcatel 5530 software tool allows the provider to proactively analyze existing copperlines to assess their ability to deliver “triple play” services (voice, data, and video). The Alcatel 5530NA performs a number of tests to determine line quality and the connection between the centraloffice and the subscriber’s premises. It can also identify any potential equipment issues, identify rootcauses and provide suggestions for the successful resolution of any problems. These actions arecompleted without impacting service delivery. Because the Alcatel 5530 is designed to detect andanalyze network problems that lead to customer complaints, it reduces the time spent handlingcustomer complaints and minimizes the number of truck rolls, which in turn reduces operationalexpenses considerably.
