PALO ALTO, Calif. -- Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE: A) today announced that it has licensed an extensive set of Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) tests from industry leader Marconi plc. The test scripts speed automated, comprehensive testing of conformance to the IETF’s MPLS RSVP Traffic Engineering (TE) protocol standards and provide service providers and network equipment manufacturers with the industry’s most comprehensive and detailed MPLS RSVP-TE conformance test solution. MPLS signaling protocols with TE extensions allow service providers to optimize use of available resources by routing traffic flows based on network conditions, such as congestion, bandwidth requirements and traffic priority. The 375 scripts, created by Marconi for use on Agilent’s RouterTester platform, will be incorporated into Agilent’s MPLS conformance test suite software, bringing the total number of test cases included to more than 700. The new Marconi test scripts verify conformance to IETF documents RFC 2205 and RFC 3209.“Adding this extensive set of customer-developed test cases to our conformance suite will enable us to share Marconi’s MPLS protocol expertise with the rest of our customer base,” said Bill Wood, vice president and general manager of Agilent’s Advanced Networks Division. “In particular, Marconi has been able to extend its connection-oriented ATM testing experience to develop connection-oriented MPLS scripts that are among the most rigorous in the industry.”Agilent Technologies Inc.Marconi PLC
