Ericsson Wins in Indonesia, Brazil

Ericsson is awarded Ethernet broadband access contract from Telkom in Indonesia and Brasil Telecom

STOCKHOLM -- PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia Tbk. (Telkom), the incumbent telecom operator in Indonesia, has awarded Ericsson a contract to deliver Public Ethernet broadband access solution and related services to their customers in East Java, Indonesia.

Ericsson is providing it's Ethernet DSL Access (EDA) solution, for supporting Telkom to build an advanced IP/Ethernet broadband access network. This solution will able to deliver triple play services such as data, voice and video simultaneously to their customers in Surabaya, East Java - the second largest city in Indonesia. Telkom is launching its new broadband DSL access service called Speedy Broadband Access - SPEEDY.

"Through this co-operation, we will be able to offer high speed broadband Internet access that is 'always on' and enable services such as data, voice and video simultaneously to our customers, faster and in a cost efficient manner," said Kristiono, CEO and President of Telkom.

STOCKHOLM -- Ericsson has signed an agreement with Brasil Telecom, Brazil, to expand broadband access offering based on Ericsson's Ethernet DSL Access solution.

The low cost of ownership, excellent scalability, non-blocking network architecture and the quality of enabling new, capacity demanding services are elements that make Ericsson's Ethernet DSL Access solution a strong alternative to traditional ATM based solutions.

"Ericsson's Ethernet DSL Access solution makes a perfect fit with our strategy for BrTurbo service," says Carla Cicco, President Brasil Telecom. "The Ericsson's Ethernet DSL Access will allow Brasil Telecom to deliver broadband services over Ethernet."
