Eugene Park, Ph.D. joins ElectroniCast's Free Space Optics (FSO) Market and Technology Forecast Project effort

SAN MATEO, Calif. -- ElectroniCast Corporation, a world leader in forecasting for the fiber optic, optoelectronic, and photonic industries, announced that Eugene Park, Ph.D. has joined ElectroniCast's Free Space Optics (FSO) Market and Technology Forecast Project effort. The FSO (optical wireless) study project provides a global market and technology analysis and forecast of COMMERCIAL free space optics, Transmitter/Receiver (T/R) systems, segmented by link distance, throughput/data-rate and regions.

"Free Space Optics or Optical Wireless networks are trending toward longer distances and faster data-rates. As the cost and other obstacles of deploying fiber optic cables continues to increase, the product and deployment opportunities for FSO improves," ElectroniCast President Stephen Montgomery said.

Dr. Park, serving as a research associate/independent project consultant, is conducting a thorough technology assessment of FSO and competitive alternatives. Dr. Park was a Co-Founder and Director of Market & Technology Strategy of LuxN, Inc (acquired by Sorrento, 2003), a manufacturer of optical networking equipment. In addition to his experience at LuxN, Dr. Park was a Co-Founder and Vice President of Marketing/Sales at OÉSYS Photonics, Inc. Prior to OÉSYS Photonics, Dr. Park was a Principal Member, Technology Staff, Broadband Access Strategy Group at SBC Communications; and prior to SBC, he was a Principal Member, Technology Staff, Advanced Network Infrastructure & Wireless Technology at Telesis Technologies Laboratory, Pacific Telesis (acquired by SBC, 1997). Eugene Park received his Ph.D.,EE & MSEE from the University of Southern California and his BSEE from Washington University in St. Louis.
