RICHMOND, Calif. -- DiCon Fiberoptics, Inc., a leading manufacturing of fiberoptic components, modules and test instruments, announced today commercial availability of its Dynamic Band Equalizer. The Dynamic Band Equalizer (DBE) is used to both monitor and adjust power levels in groups of 4 bands based on 50, 100 or 200 GHz channel grids. By this means the DBE can flatten the power levels of WDM channels at the input stage of metro amplifiers or WDM terminal equipment receivers as well as at the output stage of Optical Add/Drop Multiplexers. The Dynamic Band Equalizer is based on DiCon’s Telcordia-qualified MEMS Attenuator, Thin Film WDM and Fused Coupler components. The DBE is a dramatically, lower cost alternative to channel level power equalizers based on Bragg Gratings or AWGs. DBEs are ultra-compact 4-band modules as well as in OEM modules and plug-in cards. They can be field-upgraded in groups of 4 bands without service disruption.DiCon Fiberoptics Inc.
