ZTE Uses Lightstorm for VOD

WALTHAM, Mass. -- Lightstorm Networks, enabling next generation packet network services with carrier-grade Ethernet silicon, today announced that ZTE Corporation (“ZTE”), a leading global provider of telecommunications equipment and network solutions, will now be using Lightstorm’s Brooklyn-10 Carrier Ethernet Switch for a Video on demand (VOD) application. The agreement reflects the surge in VOD usage worldwide, while emphasizing both companies’ commitment to provide the innovative technology required to exceed that demand.

ZTE is working in conjunction with China Telecommunication on this application and will be running a pilot later this year in Shanghai.

As one of the first Chinese telecoms equipment providers to pursue business in overseas markets, ZTE is committed to enhancing customer satisfaction and company growth both within China and outside its borders. In the Company’s anticipated VOD Server application project, aimed at millions of viewers, ZTE recognizes that is critical to avoid video disruption. The Company selected the Brooklyn-10 because it is created specifically for the carrier market. The carrier class nature of the Brooklyn-10 provides both the deep packet buffering and the sophisticated traffic management to ensure guaranteed delivery of video services.
