FREMONT, Calif. -- Ikanos Communications, Inc. (NASDAQ: IKAN), a leading provider of advanced broadband semiconductor and software products for the digital home, today unveiled two new dual-core communications processors - the Fusiv(R) Vx175 and Fusiv Vx173. The new Ikanos chipsets build on the award-winning features of the company's Fusiv family of processors and extend the range of access technologies and device types that can be supported by Ikanos products. With the Fusiv Vx175/173, service providers can deploy and manufacturers can build a wide range of devices including femtocell gateways, smart energy gateways, mobile broadband routers, optical networking terminals, network attached storage and other next generation services gateways.

"The traditional residential gateway is morphing into an intelligent services gateway - a home hub that enables everything from content delivery like IPTV to home automation and energy management and a whole host of cloud-based services," said Jonathan Black, director of customer premises marketing for Ikanos. "Regardless of the broadband access technology - wireline or wireless - these service gateways need substantial processing speed, flexible interfaces, quality of service and advanced power management. Ikanos' Fusiv Vx185/183 is optimized for VDSL while the Vx175/173 provides the same benefits for PON, LTE and other broadband access technologies."
