RICHARDSON, Texas -- Celion Networks, a private company selling optical networking solutions, today introduces the CN1000-T, the industry's first enterprise-class solution for transporting 10 Gbps wavelengths over extended metro distances without intermediate amplification or regeneration. By avoiding amplification, dispersion compensation, and regeneration at intermediate sites, the solution enables enterprises to deploy dark fiber networks up to 180km (112 miles) apart - without requiring equipment outside their premises. This removes inaccessible points of failure and lowers the cost and complexity of deploying extended metro transport solutions. In addition, the Celion solution has extremely low excess latency for delay-sensitive applications, adding less than 3% to the inherent transmission fiber delay.

"The CN1000-T is the first enterprise-class 10 Gbps solution to support 40 dB of span loss and very low latency," explains Bob Tkach, Celion CTO. "These features, combined with the solution's 100 Gbps of bandwidth, enable enterprises to cost-effectively deploy new applications and significantly expand business continuity capabilities."
