On2 Technologies appoints Bill Joll - most recently vice president of marketing, carrier solutions, at RealNetworks - as president and CEO

CLIFTON PARK, N.Y. -- On2 Technologies, Inc., a leader in digital video compression technology, today announced the appointment of Bill Joll to the posts of president and chief executive officer, effective May 8. Mr. Joll replaces James Meyer, an On2 board member who has served as interim CEO since February 2. Mr. Meyer, who is chief executive of internet media start-up Mindset Media, returns to his role as an independent director of On2.

An engineer by training, Mr. Joll brings extensive executive experience and industry expertise in streaming media, IPTV, telecom, wireless, and enterprise applications to his positions at On2. Most recently vice president of marketing, carrier solutions, at RealNetworks, Inc., a leading creator of digital media services and software, Mr. Joll spent 18 years at Nortel, where he served as president of marketing for Europe, general manager of two different carrier product lines, and head of product management in Asia and Latin America. In 2000, Mr. Joll left Nortel to serve as CEO of two successive technology start-ups, Maple Optical and Threshold Networks. Mr. Joll, who earned bachelor's and master's degrees in electrical engineering at the University of Manitoba, is a citizen of the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom.
