MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. and TOKYO -- PeerMe, Inc. (www.PeerMe.com), a peer-to-peer voice communications technology company, today introduced its first beta product that provides free, unlimited, voice communications for Internet users. Japanese and English language versions are now available for download through the companys Web site. PeerMe users will be able to interact free with anyone around the world using their computer and Internet connection. Over the coming months, PeerMe will introduce a series of new offerings designed to support the company's goal of voice-enabling content and applications on the Internet.

The Japanese market is well poised to embrace the adoption of peer-to-peer voice communication, said Kanji Sakae-san, co-founder and president of PeerMe Japan. With more than 36 percent of Japanese households wired with high speed connectivity and the continued rising costs of wired telephony, consumers will not only see the value, but also the utility in using peer-to-peer voice communication as their sole medium for communication. PeerMes delivery of free and high quality Internet voice communication allows users to take full advantage of their Internet and computer investments.

In addition to its peer-to-peer voice technology, PeerMe will offer an Application Programming Interface (API) designed to help developers add voice communications and instant messaging capabilities to their Web sites. The new API will enable Web sites to integrate voice and instant messaging within their own community of users in an open or restricted environment. For instance, a large classified site could utilize PeerMes API to enable a user to search for a particular brand of car in Kyoto, Japan. The person could view a list of people with that type of car for sale, and then instantly communicate with any of those sellers who are online by simply clicking on the PeerMe icon.
