BELLEVUE, Wash. -- MidStream Technologies, ™ a leading developer of broadcast quality and highly scalable Video on Demand (VoD) servers and solutions, and nCUBE Corporation, a leading provider of on-demand media and digital advertising solutions, today announced an agreement to integrate the MidStream IP2000 Series of Video Servers and nCUBE’s nABLE On Demand Management System and nCUBE’s On Demand Application (nODA).

This relationship will provide cable operators with a greater choice for delivering On Demand Television (ODT) by enabling customers to select hardware and software components from each company that addresses their specific needs. Under terms of the agreement, MidStream Technologies will distribute, brand and market nCUBE’s comprehensive suite of on-demand management and user interface software, and technical business tools as part of the MidStream video server product line. Ultimately, MidStream and nCUBE hardware solutions can be managed by the same nCUBE back-office and set-top applications to support to common customers that choose the combined solution.

“With this agreement, the On Demand Television market has evolved from a time when one company only provided one VoD end-to-end hardware and software solution to an environment where cable operators can choose how to build their system for each individual market to deliver the best performance, function and flexibility,” said Ed Huguez, president and chief executive officer of MidStream Technologies. “We are responding to the customer and market need by assembling solutions that will provide customers with the widest set of proven On Demand Television and VoD choices for deploying these services.”

MidStream Technologies and nCUBE are leading the evolution of On Demand Television solutions. For the first time, a flexible customer driven ‘a la carte’ solution is being offered to the market from proven and technically advanced VOD solution providers. This solution empowers cable operators to deploy scalable and flexible VoD services over their existing infrastructure.

“We very pleased to announce nCUBE's OEM program with Midstream. Both nCUBE and MidStream recognize that the VOD market is constantly moving and we are pleased to be able to deliver a tailored solution that meets our customers’ ever-changing needs.” said Michael Pohl, president and chief executive officer of nCUBE Corporation. "We believe that the power of integrating a simplified all encompassing platform like nABLE with Midstream’s hardware technology will prove to be a very compelling solution for many of the cable markets looking to launch VOD.”MidStream’s partnership with nCUBE is further testament to MidStream’s leadership in the industry.

MidStream has provided the industry with many firsts including: the first to introduce an open architecture VOD server solution that allows operators to scale storage and streaming separately; the first to demonstrate that multiple server vendors can coexist in the same deployment; and the first to use a Flexible Hardware approach that is designed to allow operators to upgrade or add new applications and formats (e.g., MPEG2, MPEG4, etc) in the field without degrading the performance of the server.
