December 16, 2002
LONDON -- BT has announced the launch of the world’s first multimedia IP contact centre service targeting the corporate market. Called BT Multimedia Contact Centre (MCC), the service brings together voice, video and online customer interactions on to an IP platform hosted in the network and available globally. The new service will give businesses the opportunity to add web capabilities, such as online chat and web cams, to their contact centre so that all communications with customers, including voice, can be filtered in to a single virtual queue and managed globally. BT MCC will link contact centres throughout the world, enabling the co-ordination of enquiries from more than 150 countries, 24 hours a day.
Tony Connor, head of global voice services at BT Ignite - BT’s business services and solutions division - said: “With the increasing use of a wider range of communications channels, companies need a single view of all the contacts made with customers – whether over the internet, mobile or fixed telephone networks.
