FPL FiberNet deploys Alcatel-Lucent equipment for all-IP network transformation

MIAMI and MURRAY HILL, N.J. -- FPL FiberNet, a subsidiary of FPL Group, Inc., and Alcatel-Lucent (Euronext Paris and NYSE: ALU) today announced that FPL FiberNet selected and deployed Alcatel-Lucent’s IP/MPLS (Multi Protocol Label Switching) as their packet-based network to deliver Ethernet and IP services. Alcatel-Lucent’s solution will enable FPL FiberNet to offer a broad suite of high quality, reliable and flexible IP-based services, as well as help FPL FiberNet meet anticipated future growth requirements. FPL FiberNet currently serves telecommunication companies, wireless carriers, Internet service providers, and enterprise and government customers in Florida through a geographically diverse and protected fiber-optic network.
