KISTA, Sweden -- PacketFront, the next generation broadband infrastructure provider and world leader in open-access fibre-to-the-home technology, has announced the IPD 1200, a high performance IP DSLAM that enables the delivery of on-demand triple play voice, TV/video and data services over standard copper infrastructure. This launch coincides with PacketFront's formal entry into the U.S. market with the opening of its first sales office in Boston.

"With the addition of the IPD 1200, we now provide a broad family of DSLAMs, broadband routers, and control and provisioning software," said Martin Thunman, CEO of PacketFront. "We enable network operators to deliver profitable triple play services over local access technologies including ADSL, Cat5, Fibre, wireless and PLC."

IPD 1200 supports ADSL2+, offering bandwidth of up to 25 Mbit/sec to the end user and 1 Mbit/sec from the end user. It supports 48 to 4000 users per 19" rack-mounted system, allowing network owners to scale their deployment incrementally as opposed to being forced to purchase excess DSLAM capacity.

"The PacketFront product line has unique management capabilities that will help increase operational efficiency," said Michael Howard, principal analyst and co-founder at Infonetics Research. Products such as IPD 1200 will enable service providers to deliver a range of new, profitable services to their customers."

"By upgrading existing networks to ADSL2+, operators can manage and deliver true broadband services that far exceed the basic Internet services offered at the moment," said Matt Wenger, PacketFront's Director of Business and Strategic Development for North America. "Our unique control, provisioning and automation features enable multiple competing service providers to sell triple-play services to the rapidly expanding business and home ADSL markets."
