ZTE wins contract for 40% of China Telecom's 2012 broadband equipment procurement project

SHENZHEN, China -- ZTE Corporation (“ZTE”) (H share stock code: 0763.HK / A share stock code: 000063.SZ), a publicly-listed global provider of telecommunications equipment and network solutions, today announced that it has won a contract for 40 per cent of China Telecom’s 2012 broadband equipment procurement project. The 40 per cent share is the largest of any company participating on the project.

China Telecom’s broadband equipment contract includes procurement of PON OLTs, FTTB MDUs, and broadband terminals. It includes for over 21 million units valued at approximately RMB4 billion. It is the largest broadband procurement project in the world in 2012.

Building IT infrastructure, including broadband, is a key part of China’s 2012 national development plan. China Telecom aims to increase its FTTH user base by 25 million, and to expand its FTTH coverage to more than 55 million households. With the new project, China Telecom also anticipates a total increase of 16 million to reach a total of 100 million its users.
