AMSTERDAM -- Broadband World Forum 2013 -- For all the talk of the importance of 4G LTE, there's still some life left in the world of fixed broadband. That's why several thousand folks from around the world have gathered here in the Dutch capital to see what's happening with DSL developments, fiber-to-the-home (FTTH), home networking and, well, pretty much anything you can think of, actually. (See BBWF 2013: What's It All About?)
And it certainly wouldn't be a telecom gathering if companies weren't talking about the hot topic du jour, software-defined networking (SDN). (See Huawei Adds to Its SDN Arsenal.)
So we whipped out our telephoto lens on day one of the event as we searched for decent coffee (and found some, thank goodness). And all credit to German broadband customer premises equipment (CPE) vendor Elcon Systemtechnik GmbH for providing multiple picture opportunities and top-notch cappuccino. Wunderbar!
