BellSouth Promotes Feidler to Prez

BellSouth COO Mark Feidler has been named president and chief operating officer, and elected to the board of directors

ATLANTA -- BellSouth Corporation (NYSE: BLS) today announced that Mark Feidler, currently chief operating officer, has been named president and chief operating officer, and elected to the Board of Directors. The change is effective July 1, 2005. Feidler will continue to report directly to Duane Ackerman, chairman and chief executive officer.

"Today's announcement reflects the progress Mark has made to position BellSouth for success in the highly competitive and changing communications marketplace," said Duane Ackerman, chairman and chief executive officer.

Feidler joined BellSouth in 1991 as director of strategic transactions. In 1993, he was promoted to vice president of corporate development for BellSouth Corporation, and was named president of Interconnection Services three years later. In 1998, he was appointed president of BellSouth Mobility, Inc. In 2001, he was named chief operating officer for Cingular Wireless, a position he held until January 2004, when he was named chief staff officer for BellSouth. He was appointed chief operating officer on January 1, 2005.
