APA Secures Big DWDM Order
Order in excess of $500,000 is largest dollar-value DWDM order received to date by APA

MINNEAPOLIS -- APA Optics, Inc. (Nasdaq: APAT - news) announced that it has received a second repeat order for its 16-channel, 50 Gigahertz (GHz) spacing dense wavelength division multiplexer/demultiplexer (DWDM) component. The order, which is more than twice as large as APA's previous largest DWDM order, is contingent upon delivery and acceptance of an order received from this customer in March of this year for 21 units. These units are to be delivered by the end of July 2001.
"This order reinforces our belief that our 50 GHz DWDM components are well positioned to serve the fiber communications marketplace," said Terry VanderWert, general manager of APA's Fiber Optics Product Group. He observed that the movement in optical communications toward higher bandwidths is being partially addressed with higher channel counts that are supported by narrowing channel spacing. "The ability of APA to provide 50 GHz channel spacing, while maintaining low insertion loss and low crosstalk in a passive a-thermal package, makes our products very attractive to optical equipment manufacturers," added VanderWert.
