FREMONT, Calif. -- Amber Networks, the leader in carrier grade IP infrastructure products, today announced that it is reducing its workforce, including outside contractors, by approximately 12% in response to the softening economy and lowered industry estimates of short-term service provider spending.

"While the market for our products remains strong, we are taking this measure to prudently manage the company through the current downturn," said Sam Mathan, president and CEO of Amber Networks. "This move will not affect our ability to deliver on our customer commitments. Amber will continue with product deliveries and customer trials as planned."
