Agilent Offers Design Board

SAN DIEGO -- Applied Micro Circuits Corporation (AMCC) [NASDAQ: AMCC], the leader in high-bandwidth silicon connectivity for the world’s optical networks, today announced the offering of an OC-12 reference design board demonstrating the interoperability of AMCC’s S3038 quad Serialization/Deserialization (SerDes) transceiver with the HFBR-5908E/HFCT-5908E small form factor (SFF) fiber-optic transceivers from Agilent Technologies Inc.

The reference design board was developed to facilitate the design implementation of AMCC’s and Agilent’s highly configurable solutions. The reference design also demonstrates the connection to the optics module via SMA connectors, and characterizes equipment for jitter and waveform evaluations. The board requires an external 3.3V power supply for operation and provides access to the parallel output lines from the S3038 device.

“This reference design lets networking equipment designers take the guess work and obstacles out of the design cycle,” said David Knights, general manager of Agilent’s Fiber Optics Business Unit. “This will shorten the equipment’s overall time-to-market and allow for acceleration of the continuing evolution of the Internet.”
