Xilinx's Virtex-II Platform FPGAs enable AcceLight's Photonic Service Switch to deliver agile service aggregation solutions

SAN JOSE, Calif. -- Xilinx, Inc. (NASDAQ:XLNX) today announced a collaboration with AcceLight Networks, a leading aggregation switching and cross connect company, in the delivery of AcceLight's PXS 540 family of Photonic Service Switches (PSS). AcceLight's unique architecture, enabled by Xilinx's high-density, high-speed Virtex-II Platform FPGAs, delivers an integrated system for SONET/SDH STS-1 grooming, optical path and MPLS label switching from 80G to 1.28 terabits in capacity. Today's service providers can benefit from the agile service configurations of the PXS 540 to deliver inter-city TDM, optical, and MPLS switched services for the wavelength core "The advanced architecture and flexibility of the Xilinx Platform FPGAs helped us to shorten our development cycle and achieve the breakthrough performance offered in our PXS 540," said Paul Chow, director of ASIC technology at AcceLight Networks.
