Dr. John Kong comes aboard Transparent Networks as director of reliability, availability, and serviceability

SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- Transparent Networks, Inc., developer of intelligent photonic switching systems, announced today the appointment of Dr. John Kong as Director of Reliability, Availability, & Serviceability (RAS). Dr. Kong, who previously served as Reliability Engineering Manager at Xros/Nortel Networks, brings 20 years of hands-on telecommunications experience to the company.Dr. Kong’s assumes responsibility for Telcordia and reliability qualification of the iTOSS-1000TM, the company’s flagship photonic switching product, as well as its components and subassemblies, including integrated MOEMS mirrors. He will also be responsible for the modeling and optimizing the high system availability and serviceability. In this role, Dr. Kong will report directly to Transparent's VP of Operations. "Creation of the Director of RAS position is a significant milestone for Transparent Networks. It marks for us the beginning of transitioning from the development to production phase. As we approach shipping date for the first demo systems to customers labs this summer, the reliability and high availability issues become critical to customers acceptance of MOEMS based photonic switching systems." said Dr. Janusz Bryzek, Transparent Networks’ President and CEO.
