TeraBurst Unveils Core Switch Solutions
Optical Management System (OMS) 2100 and 2200, wavelength-level switching systems based on a hybrid OMO technology
May 22, 2001
SUNNYVALE, Calif. -- TeraBurst(TM) Networks, Inc., a leading developer of carrier-grade optical core switching systems, today announced its first family of products, the Optical Management System - OMS(TM) 2100 and OMS(TM) 2200. TeraBurst's patented and reliable wavelength-level switching systems are based on a hybrid OMO (optical-millimeter wave-optical) technology that combines the quality of digital and the speed of photonics at a price/performance exceeding both. TeraBurst's solutions are designed to enable carriers to efficiently manage their optical channel capacity including DWDM, drive new revenue opportunities, differentiate themselves through value-added services, and reduce operating expenses through network management.
"Today's announcement marks a major industry milestone," said Ashok Jain, CEO of TeraBurst Networks. "While the need for optical core switching solutions is significant, the market is looking for certain key features like reliable, scalable switches that are compact, low cost and consume very little power. We believe we've got the technology, products, and people - in short, the whole solution set - which should make us a strong player in the next-generation optical networking arena. The products we are introducing today are an exciting beginning, and are targeted at optical carriers who are demanding unique value, future-proof capacity, and significant savings."
