FOSTER CITY, Calif., and HSINCHU, Taiwan -- RiteKom Photonics Corporation, provider of high quality, cost effective optical networking components, today announced their entry into the US market with the opening of a US office in Foster City, California. RiteKom is quickly establishing a local presence with networking equipment makers and carriers by offering transceivers, optical fiber, a variety of fiber cable and passive optical components at extremely competitive prices, making use of the high-quality manufacturing facilities in Taiwan. The US office will primarily serve as the launching pad for RiteKom's international business plans and will help bridge the Pacific Gap to provide immediate technical support for US customers, as well as sales and marketing functions. "We see a huge shift in the future manufacturing of optical components for the global marketplace," said Kao Feng Tsai, president and chief executive officer of RiteKom Photonics Corporation. "The economic downturn in the telecommunications market, combined with the pressure on system makers to lower the cost of their products and the emergence of industry wide standard specifications makes this industry ripe for the mass-production of components. Just as the semiconductor, computer and computer peripheral industries moved manufacturing to Taiwan, so will optical components and I am proud to say that RiteKom is leading the way."RiteKom has established ISO 9001 certified manufacturing facilities and their initial products include optical fiber, Tight Buffer Fiber Cable for indoor LAN environments, and a variety of Loose Tube Fiber Cable for outdoor environments. The company also supplies a range of active components, including transceivers in the 155 mbps to 2.5 Gbps range with 850, 1310 and 1550 nm wavelengths, with 10 Gbps transceivers to follow in Q2 2002. RiteKom's diverse range of active components includes small form factor (SFF), small form factor pluggable (SFP) and GBIC transceivers. Passive components include connectors, ferrules, adaptors, attenuators and couplers.RiteKom Photonics Corp.
