LONDON -- BT has teamed up with management software experts, Computer Associates (CA) to boost the antivirus element of its Internet Security Pack.

The CA eTrust EZ solution, supplied by security reseller Tolerant, will enable BT’s Business Broadband customers to manage their entire online security from a single point.

Available to all existing and new customers, the software automatically updates and synchronises on a daily basis, so that users’ virus protection is always up to date.

An additional component part of Internet Security Pack allows users to receive audio and visual alerts that let them know when a potential hacker attack is occurring and when intrusive software is attempting to deploy itself. The service will show the severity of the attack and also gives access to any recommended action. Intrusion detection, blocking and activity logs are all automated, enabling companies to save time and concentrate on their core business.

“Online security is vital for everyone, but is paramount for our business customers,” said Glenn Jones, Head of Applications, BT Business Broadband. “Viruses can have devastating impacts on companies - not just because they cause downtime, but also because they can lead to loss of essential or private data.”

“Many smaller businesses can’t afford to spend vast amounts of money on security, so we offer our customers enterprise-grade security software as part of our SME package. We always partner with the leaders in their field, and our two Internet Security Pack partners, CA and Internet Security Systems, are no different,” Jones added.

Tyrone Clay, Sales Director at Tolerant, said: “This is a very significant installation for our organisation. Not only is it a large existing market for EZ Antivirus, but it opens the door for us to further extend its reach. The importance of up-to-date security cannot be underestimated, and the relationship between Tolerant, BT and CA will help impress this even further in the SME community.”

“Small business is no different to big business when it comes to being able to mange their IT environments securely,” said Tony Martin, UK Country Manager at Computer Associates. “It’s vital to get it right if you value your data, and your systems.”
