SAN DIEGO, Calif. -- Pulse®, a Technitrol (NYSE: TNL) Company, introduces the Star Magnetics™ series of single- and dual-port discrete magnetic, extended-temperature, Power over Ethernet (PoE) products. The single-port HX2260 and dual-port HX2305 operate between –40 and +85 degrees Celsius. PoE enables remote power feeding of 15 Watts to the remote terminal device, thereby providing both power and a Fast Ethernet 10/100 BaseT connection over the same Category 3/5 Ethernet cable, reducing the installation cost for a remote network device. These are the first PoE-compatible discrete magnetic components available on the market today that also can operate at extreme temperatures; therefore, one component can be used in industrial Ethernet applications.

The cost-effective Star Magnetics components comply with the IEEE’s 802.3u Fast Ethernet and 802.3af PoE standards along with ANSI’s X3.263 standards, and meet IEEE 802.3 HiPot isolation requirements. They provide a 350 microhenries minimum open circuit inductance (OCL) with 8 milliamperes bias applied. Applications include industrial Ethernet, motor drive controls, network interface cards (NICs), and Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) phones.
