Network Processing Forum (NPF) announces Russell Dietz as chairman

LOS GATOS, Calif. -- Network security and flow classification market leader Hifn™ (Nasdaq: HIFN), and The Network Processing Forum (NPF), a non-profit industry association fostering the growth of network processing technologies, announced today that Russell Dietz, Hifn’s VP and CTO, was elected Chairman of the Network Processing Forum by the Forum’s Board of Directors.
Russell Dietz is Vice President and Chief Technology Officer at Hifn, where he leads the effort in defining the next generation of secure and edge service, and network processing solutions. Mr. Dietz joined Apptitude (acquired by Hifn, August 2000) in its early startup days and has contributed in a range of engineering and product management roles. As CTO of Apptitude, Mr. Dietz was the primary architect of the MeterFlow and MeterWorks technology. As the Chairperson and a member of the Board of Directors, Mr. Dietz actively serves the Network Processing Forum and was the founding Hardware Working Group Chair. Mr. Dietz is also an active member of the IETF, IEEE 802 subcommittees, and the Optical Internetworking Forum (OIF). Mr. Dietz has been awarded 5 patents to date, all in the field of data communications traffic analysis and behavior.
