MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. -- NetLogic Microsystems, Inc., the leader in packet classification and forwarding solutions for networking and communications, today announced the availability of its next-generation integrated development environment (IDE), with complete software and hardware development kits (SDK and HDK), designed to support the Intel. IXP2400 and IXP28xx network processors. This comprehensive solution allows system designers to test and evaluate integral system interoperability and develop application software in a pre- and post-hardware environment, greatly accelerating system development and time-to-market.

The new development environment combines NetLogic's SDK 3.0 and the NSE5000EGLQ-EVB evaluation board with reference schematics. The SDK 3.0 includes a foreign object model (FOM), device initialization, application programming interfaces (APIs), device drivers, table management for forwarding and packet classification, data plane macros for the network processor, and network processor sample code for development and evaluation of a system. The evaluation card is designed to plug directly into the Intel Angel Island and Aleutian Island development platforms.

The FOM simulates NetLogic's latest NSE5000GLQ glue-less search engines for use with the Intel IXP2400 and IXP28xx network processors. The APIs provide an abstraction to the application software for both the control and data plane. In addition, NetLogic provides an array of other software such as board bring up software, functional test suite and utilities.

"We understand the importance of providing complete software and hardware system solutions to speed the development and design process for our customers," said Martyn Humphries, vice president of marketing at NetLogic Microsystems. "NetLogic's new integrated development environment allows designers to develop and verify our latest generation NSE5000GLQ search engines for use with Intel's IXP family of network processors. Through the availability of this comprehensive solution, designers are able to quickly and easily develop packet-processing applications for their product."
