Munich's Water Gets Extreme

This modern Metro network, implemented by Public Works provider SWM-Versorgungs GmbH, features high resiliency from Extreme's Ethernet Automatic Protection Switching (EAPS) technology.SWM-Versorgungs GmbH selected Extreme Networks to integrate its FDDI fiber ring with Ethernet technology. Extreme's switching platforms provide increased bandwidth, Quality of Service (QoS) and fault tolerance to support increasing amounts of data traffic. Extreme's EAPS software capability extends SONET-like reliability to ring-based networks, exceeding the performance of Spanning Tree technology. In addition, EAPS greatly improves network resiliency, with sub-50 millisecond recovery of data services should a fiber line be cut or interrupted.Extreme's Alpine(TM) 3800 and Summit®48si switching platforms provide a complete core and edge network solution for SWM-Versorgungs.
