SOUTH PLAINFIELD, N.J. -- Multiplex, Inc. announced that it has joined the multi-source agreement (MSA) that establishes industry standards for 10 gigabit-per-second (Gb/s) surface-mount optical receivers. Agere Systems and Nortel Networks originally announced the MSA in March 2002. Multiplex is among four companies that have joined this MSA, bringing its total to six members.Multiplex currently offers a full product suite of high-sensitivity receivers for current and next-generation optical networks that includes single and differential outputs, digital and analog versions, and options for 12.5 Gb/s and low optical signal noise ratio (OSNR) applications. The inclusion of MSA-compliant receivers will further bolster Multiplex’s already broad portfolio to ensure that it effectively meets the individualized needs of its customers. “Multiplex is pleased to be a part of this important MSA,” said Daniel Gay, Multiplex’s director of marketing. “We have long felt that the industry was in need of a new set of standards for 10-gig receivers. This agreement will prove to be beneficial to receiver manufacturers and users alike.”Multiplex Inc.
