LONDON -- Motorola, Inc (NYSE: MOT) today introduced the Motorola IP-STB 1100, the newest addition to the set-top platform which joined the company’s IP video portfolio though the acquisition of Kreatel Communications AB.

This new interactive set-top enables service providers to deliver core services, such as IP-based video decoding and on-demand applications into the connected homes of their customers. The IP-STB 1100 expands Motorola’s IP-based set-top offering with an entry-level product that compliments the company’s high-end and media center models.

The announcement was made at the IPTV World Forum (6-8 March, London, UK), where Kreatel technology is demonstrating at Stand 76.

Like other set-tops in the IP-STB family of products, the IP-STB 1100 supports the Kreatel TV Application Platform. This software architecture enables service providers to create applications that can run on any IP-STB series set-top in a video delivery system, regardless of differences in device hardware. For service providers, this provides a cost-effective path for adding new set-tops and services that can exist alongside currently deployed products.

“The new Motorola IP-STB 1100 empowers service providers with a broad range of choices as they look to deploy IP-based connected home services into the home,” said Lars Bengtsson, Motorola IP Video Solutions. “With our powerful software platform supported throughout the product portfolio, customers can customize the hardware and software mix appropriate for their subscribers needs.”
