NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. -- Mindspeed Technologies(TM), the Internet infrastructure business of Conexant Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq:CNXT), today extended its OptiPHY(TM) family of synchronous optical network/synchronous digital hierarchy (SONET/SDH) framers with new highest density and lowest pin-count OC-192 (10 Gbps) and OC-48 (2.5 Gbps) solutions. The new devices move Mindspeed into the high-speed optical-networking framer market while expanding the company's offering across all SONET speeds from OC-3 (155 Mbps) to OC-192. Framers perform all of the tasks associated with organizing and identifying data packets so they can be moved over optical physical media utilizing standard SONET network infrastructure.

"With today's announcement, Mindspeed has reached its goal of creating a family of framers across all SONET speeds, while building a comprehensive offering of 10 Gbps and 2.5 Gbps framer, transceiver, switching and mapping solutions for high-speed optical networking applications," said Marek Tlalka, director of marketing for SONET/SDH products at Mindspeed Technologies. "Plus, we have established new territory in the framer market by including a low-power and low-pin-count SPI-4 Phase 2 interface in our 10 Gbps device that will enable significantly easier, less expensive integration with network processors for next-generation equipment designs."
