BUSAN, Korea -- ConvediaR Corporation, the leading provider of IP media processing platforms, today announced that WebEx Communications Inc., the web communications services leader, has deployed Convedia's CMS-6000 and CMS-1000 Media Servers in the WebEx MediaTone Network. Convedia Media Servers deliver IP media processing power for an integrated VoIP conferencing capability, allowing WebEx to deliver a seamless multimedia conferencing experience over a common, economical IP-based services infrastructure.

"WebEx's choice to enhance its voice conferencing services with Convedia's media server platform sets the stage to deliver the next level of converged voice/web conferencing services", said Andy Nilssen, Senior Analyst and Partner with Wainhouse Research. "As both the WebEx MediaTone Network and Convedia's Media Servers are standards-based, new features can be rapidly developed and deployed, including tighter integration of real-time rich media conferencing with each customer's infrastructure and workflow applications."

With the deployment of Convedia's Media Servers and associated IP-based audio conferencing applications, WebEx is able to further enhance its voice conferencing services through a hybrid PSTN/VoIP capability. Not only will this result in significant operational savings, but the integrated media capability will allow additional usability features to be introduced with new WebEx service offerings.

"Our technical team has performed extensive internal testing of IP Media Server products from a number of vendors," said Shawn Farshchi, CIO at WebEx Communications. "In the end, Convedia's features, reliability, scalability and technical support proved decisive in the selection and deployment of Convedia Media Servers."

Convedia's carrier-class CMS-6000 Media Server and entry level CMS-1000 Media Server consolidate the functions of traditional announcement and recording servers, interactive voice response (IVR/VRU) units, multimedia conference bridges, messaging platforms and speech platforms into a multi-service, open standards compliant solution for network and enhanced services media processing.

"Convedia is honored to be deployed within WebEx's global communications network to deliver enhanced VoIP conferencing capabilities," said Peter Briscoe, president and CEO of Convedia. "Being selected by the leader in Web communications is a significant achievement for our entire organization. We look forward to helping WebEx maintain its significant competitive advantage - both in terms of operational cost savings, as well as new capabilities."
