Wellfleet's Seifert Joins Avaya

BASKING RIDGE, N.J. -- Avaya today announced the appointment of William M. Seifert as chief technology officer for Avaya Data Solutions. Seifert will be responsible for technology strategy and research and development programs for the data solutions group. He reports to Steve Bandrowczak, vice president and general manager, Avaya Data Solutions.

An accomplished entrepreneur with over 25 years of experience in the data communications industry, Seifert joins Avaya from Prism VentureWorks, where he was a general partner and focused on next-generation network technology investments.

Prior to joining Prism, Seifert was founder and CEO of Agile Networks. He led the company from inception to its acquisition by Lucent Technologies, where he served as president of the Agile Networks Division.

Previously, Seifert founded and was CTO of Wellfleet Communications, a networking technologies pioneer that merged with Synoptics to form Bay Networks. He was also a founding member of Interlan, which produced one of the industry's first successful Ethernet controllers for mini and microcomputer systems, and was later acquired by Micom Systems.
