SUNNYVALE, Calif. -- Neoteris, Inc., the leading Application Security Gateway vendor, today announced that it has extended the range of access options available through the Neoteris Access Series(tm) product family by adding support for resource intensive business applications. The new Network Connect Upgrade option for the Neoteris Access Series product family enables full network connectivity to a broad range of resources and applications, including support for complex protocols such as H.323 and SIP. Network Connect also supports broadly deployed and emerging wireless LAN standards. The Network Connect technology is one of three connectivity options available within the Neoteris Access Series, effectively satisfying all secure access needs. Users of the Instant Virtual Extranet-based Access Series gateways can choose from clientless Web access, thin-client support for client/server applications, and full network connectivity for resource intensive applications, such as VoIP and streaming media.

With the Network Connect Upgrade, enterprises can now enable robust network connectivity that freely traverses NAT and firewall devices by using a standard Web browser. This eliminates the access constraints associated with IPSec VPNs while also eliminating the need to install and maintain client software. The self-provisioning Network Connect option leverages the key benefits of SSL-based access by significantly lowering costs and enhancing security. The Neoteris Access Series, combined with tightly integrated technologies from best-of-breed companies in the Neoteris Technology Partner Program, uniquely provides customers with the broadest range of options to ensure compliance with strong corporate security policies, which is a requirement for providing security while provisioning a full network connection.

"We have been very pleased with our Neoteris Access product, especially its deployability to give access to more people than we were able to with our VPN, all with less complexity," said Rick Terhaar, president of Maxim Management Services. "With the Neoteris Network Connect feature, we give physicians all over the state of New York and our employees access to such applications as the Medent Medical Practice Management System/Electronic Medical Record, and various Windows financial applications, such as ACCPAC 2000. Physicians connect to their practice's server on our network to access their patients' clinical records and dictate voice notes, which are later transcribed into the record by transcriptionists authenticating with Network Connect. The technology is outstanding and it has allowed us to stop using our VPN all together."

"Network Connect is the latest feature added to Neoteris' breadth of connectivity options to satisfy the diverse secure access demands of our growing customer base deploying SSL-based solutions to their employees and partners," said Neoteris President and CEO Krishna "Kittu" Kolluri. "While there are tremendous benefits associated with application-layer access, a limited subset of users requires network-layer access. Because of tight integration with our technology partners, we are able to offer Network Connect in coordination with best-of-breed personal firewall technologies to ensure that Neoteris customers can provide the highest level of security features desired."

Neoteris continues to lead the SSL-based access market with innovations that deliver unprecedented levels of secure access via the Web. The Network Connect Upgrade addresses the needs of the subset of end users within an organization who require full network connectivity. These select employees, such as IT administrators and laptop "power users," can now take advantage of the SSL-based thin-client approach for access to VoIP, streaming media or resource intensive applications, or to enable connectivity over wireless LANs. Neoteris delivers this functionality with tight security and administrative controls. For example, network administrators can set policies by which users of the Network Connect feature are granted access only to the allowed applications and servers. Customers can also further enhance remote-user security by enforcing compliance with an endpoint security solution from leading vendors participating in the Neoteris Technology Partner Program.
