SUNNYVALE, Calif. -- Tropos Networks, the proven leader in delivering ubiquitous, metro-scale, Wi-Fi mesh network systems, and The Cloud, the largest hot spot operator in Europe, today announced a collaboration to deliver metro-scale mesh networks to city centers in the UK and Europe. The partnership will deliver broadband wireless networks, with seamless subscriber mobility, expanding The Cloud's already industry-leading Wi-Fi footprint.

The partnership and subsequent technology expansion will allow The Cloud and its customers to deliver innovative mobile broadband applications to customers over large areas. For the first time, service providers operating on The Cloud's infrastructure will be able to deliver metro-scale value-added services such as mobile internet access and wireless voice services, remote wireless video monitoring, automated meter reading (AMR) and multiple public safety applications, among others.

"We are very excited to be teaming with Tropos and using its market-leading products," said George Polk, CEO of The Cloud. "This partnership, as it matures, will allow us to deliver a wireless IP infrastructure that shatters the boundaries of traditional hot spots. Our customers will have enhanced capabilities to deliver to their subscribers, resulting in an opportunity for increased subscriber acquisition and satisfaction."

"Demand for metro-scale Wi-Fi mesh across Europe is now growing rapidly," said Ron Sege, CEO of Tropos Networks. "The tremendous breadth of experience and market expertise of The Cloud, using Tropos MetroMesh technology, will help drive the worldwide expansion of the metro-scale industry."
