DULUTH, Ga. -- ARRIS (Nasdaq ARRS) today announced that it has received new orders from Charter Communications for its Cadant® C4 Cable Modem Termination System (CMTS), Touchstone® Telephony Modems and G2 IMS Management Platform. The G2 IMS provides user-friendly GUI-based functions for configuration, alarm management, and troubleshooting of the C4 CMTS and its interfaces to the operator's RF and IP networks.

Charter launched VoIP in its Wausau, WI system over a year ago using ARRIS equipment, and its 3,000 customers there constitute one of the largest current deployment of primary line PacketCableä Telephony over IP. The new shipments of ARRIS VoIP equipment are scheduled to be deployed in two other Charter franchises. These deployments are expected to result in the addition of tens of thousands of carrier-grade VoIP lines during 2004.

“We are delighted to have again been selected by Charter Communications to provide key elements of their new primary line VoIP launches,” stated ARRIS Broadband President Jim Lakin. “We understand IP technology and the rigorous demands of providing primary-line voice, and we are honored to know that Charter shares that confidence in our abilities and experience.”
