LONDON -- BT has announced that Ian Bull, BT Retail’s chief financial officer for the past three years, will move into the new role of heading up BT Retail's Enterprises division from February 1, 2004.

As chief executive of the division, Bull will hold overall responsibility for the portfolio of ventures across BT Retail, focusing specifically on managing and growing existing ventures, including BT Directories, BT Conferencing, BT RedCare, BT Expedite and BT Payphones.

Bull will continue to be a member of BT Retail’s leadership team and will work with the chairmen and CEOs of each of the ventures to drive growth in both revenue and profit from these areas.

Bull’s successor is to be Donald Muir, formerly global CFO with Cable and Wireless. While at Cable and Wireless, Muir was responsible for global finance, procurement and transformation activities covering the USA, Europe and Asia.

Muir also led the restructuring of the global organisation, drastically enhancing the cash flow position, resulting in significant cash improvements. Prior to joining Cable and Wireless, Muir held senior finance positions in Alcatel, Global Crossing and Telspec plc. Muir will take up his new post on February 1 and will join BT Retail’s leadership team.

Announcing the new appointments, Pierre Danon, chief executive of BT Retail, said: “I am delighted to announce these important changes today. Finance and enterprise are critical areas for the success of any business and BT Retail is no exception. Ian, in his new role, and Donald, as a new addition to our team, will play essential roles in taking BT Retail from strength to strength. Both individuals have excellent track records in the telecommunications industry and I look forward to working with them.”
