Dork. Big Dork

4:30 PM -- From The Philter's 007 file, Sony is tempting the 40-something tech dork with some top-secret gear, just in time for the latest Bond opus:

The collection, available exclusively on http://www.sonystyle.com/casinoroyale" and in Sony Style retail stores across the country, features limited-edition 007-branded models of VAIO(R) TX and UX series ultra-portable PCs, Cyber-shot(R) digital cameras and Micro-Vault(TM) media storage devices. All of these products will feature the 007 logo and the VAIO PCs will come pre-loaded with exclusive Casino Royale content, such as wallpapers and screensavers. Each limited production 007 model is numbered and comes with a certificate of authenticity.

Ah, yes! Now we're in the upper echelon of cool -- the certificate of authenticity. This is the adult version of mailing in cereal box tops for a Lone Ranger secret decoder ring. Where would you display such a certificate? On the fridge, next to the Eternal Beam of Light certification you got last Christmas? Moving on…

The Bond Collection products can be purchased as a bundle which includes a choice of either the VAIO VGN-UX007 along with 007 Cyber-shot DSC-T50 and a 1GB Micro Vault for approximately $3,200 or the VAIO VGN-TX007 with the Cyber-shot DSC-T50 and 1GB MicroVault for approximately $3,900.

Not to be picky, but what's so secret agent about a laptop, a digicam, and a portable hard drive? For this to be Bond-worthy, the laptop would at least have to double as a remotely detonated bomb. And with Sony's battery recalls of late, that shouldn't be too hard to rig. Continuing…

The bundles come with an aluminum attaché carrying case and a James Bond welcome kit. The 007 Cyber-shot DSC-T50 and the Micro Vault can be purchased individually for approximately $600 and $60, respectively. The Bond Collection will be available starting November 10, with pre-orders currently available on http://sonystyle.com/casinoroyale.

re: Dork. Big Dork Who can ever forget, in Live and Let Die, when Felix barks to his assistant: "Get me a make on a White Pimpmobile!"

re: Dork. Big Dork Never mind about the gadgets -- who is the best all time Felix Leiter in the Bond movies?

Check out this Wikipedia page and see the various actors that have played Felix:

Personally, I can't decide between Jack Lord, because he was the first Fleix I saw, or Rik Van Nutter, because he has the best name....
