T-Systems Wins Shell Deal

THE HAGUE, The Netherlands and FRANKFURT, Germany -- Deutsche Telekom’s enterprise customer unit, T-Systems, proudly secured the global hosting and storage section of a revolutionary multi-sourcing contract, worth approximately one billion euro today with multinational oil group, Royal Dutch Shell. As one of the largest commercial contracts signed to date, the agreement is part of a broader IT infrastructure program that will deliver significant cost savings for Shell over five years, while confirming T-Systems as a leading network-centric information and communications technology (ICT) provider for Corporate Europe.

Under the initial five-year agreement, T-Systems will take over the infrastructure and IT professionals of Shell’s global data centers, including three centers in the Netherlands and one each in the U.S. and Malaysia. Looking beyond the traditional outsourcing model, Shell looked for transformational next-generation emerging technologies and favored T-Systems’ innovative Dynamic Services platform, which will host the majority of their global SAP services. The unique solution dynamically adapts ICT capacities like bandwidth and data storage to customers’ business processes, boosting efficiency and reducing costs.

The energy and petrochemical corporation sought an innovative partnership and competitive advantage, and will be met by T-Systems’ dedicated global delivery team, in all the key locations, to ensure a stable and robust IT environment around the clock.
