Ericsson's Rack Attack

Ericsson's Hyperscale Datacenter System (HDS) 8000 caused a stir when it was announced at Mobile World Congress this year, mainly because most people weren't expecting products like this to show up for a few years yet. It features Intel's Rack Scale Architecture, which allows cloud servers to be configured to act as a single giant virtual machine, even when spread out over a virtual telco data center comprising racks that are kilometers apart.

Here's what Ericsson's CTO, Ulf Ewaldsson, told me about the HDS 8000 when I met him in Sweden recently.

For even more detailed info on this revolutionary product, join me on Thursday, April 30 at 12:00 p.m. EST for a one-off Super Webinar event, A New Hardware Paradigm for the Telco Data Center, where I will discuss the impact of this hardware development on the data center sector.
