CyberOptics Launches Manufacturing Co.

MINNEAPOLIS, MN -- CyberOptics Corporation today announced it is launching a new company to develop and market automation systems and process management tools for manufacturing high-precision fiber optic components for broadband telecommunications systems.

The Company will own a minority equity interest in the new venture, which will be headed by Steven K. Case, Ph.D., CyberOptics' chairman and founder. Case will maintain many of his current responsibilities with CyberOptics, including business strategy, technology and key customer efforts. The new company will be called CyberOptics Communications Corporation and is not expected to have a material impact on the Company's consolidated earnings in 2000.
