PRINCETON, N.J. -- Providing telephone and broadband companies with the latest IPTV distribution solutions that only a competitive environment can deliver, SES AMERICOM, an SES GLOBAL company (Euronext Paris and Luxembourg stock exchanges: SESG), today announced an agreement to integrate NDS Synamedia(TM) Metro middleware into its IP-PRIME(TM) IPTV content distribution platform. NDS Metro is the second middleware platform added to the open IP-PRIME IPTV delivery system, which is driving competition among technology partners and better solutions and choice for IPTV providers.

Telcos can leverage IP-PRIME and its complete system options, which include Metro middleware, to offer IPTV without the expensive and extensive development and integration associated with the delivery of broadcast quality programming to consumer set top boxes. "Synamedia Metro is built on the NDS MediaHighway middleware, which is in tens of millions of consumer set top boxes around the world, making it a proven addition to the IP-PRIME IPTV distribution solution," said Alan Young, chief technology officer for SES AMERICOM. "With our multiple middleware options and NDS's conditional access system in place, and set top box announcements on the horizon, IP-PRIME is the leading, fully-managed IPTV system in the U.S."

"A significant operator such as SES AMERICOM choosing Synamedia Metro underlines the major advantages that our next-generation IPTV middleware brings to the telco market," said Nigel Smith, Vice President, NDS Broadband Internet Group. "By distributing our Synamedia Metro solution through the IP-PRIME platform, we're able to deliver advanced IPTV capabilities to the telecommunications industry."
